Belts/PulleysList Item 1
All belt-driven fans need a strong belt that has no visible cracks or wear and tear. Operating with belts in this nature can cause the motor to work at a higher amperage and may trigger a thermal protection mode. Pulleys must be in perfect shape, and if they have any damage, they must be replaced immediately.

Access PanelList Item 2
Access panels are required to be installed every 12ft of ductwork and at every change of direction. This includes above the ceiling tiles or on the roof of the exhaust fan itself. They must be high-temperature rated and have a grease-tight seal.

Every commercial kitchen hood requires a grease cup to collect any residual grease deposits that overflow.

Power WhipList Item 4
All electrical wiring for your exhaust fan must be liquid-tight and have no voids on the flex cord or conduit. Exposed wires can lead to corrosion or moisture buildup that can cause the breaker to trip or, in some cases, self-ground and harm the motor and electrical system.

Exhaust Fan Motor
All exhaust fan systems must have a proper running motor. Operating with a motor that is seized will cause the establishment to fill up with smoke and create an unsafe environment for employees and customers. This can also create a major fire hazard on the cook line.

Access Port
The access port is used to access the back side of the blades on your exhaust fan. This is the best way to service the back side of the blades and avoid heavy buildup, causing blade imbalances or wear and tear on the bearings/motor.

Grease Catcher
Grease receptacles are required to catch the overflow of grease that builds up in your exhaust fan. You must have one properly installed, and the size is based on the volume of cleaning. This helps avoid grease damage on your roof that can lead to fire hazards and slip hazards. Also, in some cases, this can void your roof warranty.

Hood Filters
Kitchen exhaust filters must be made of a non-combustible material and be able to withstand high heat. They must be stainless steel UL-listed and be sitting in the proper vertical position to allow the grease to flow through.
